The Jim Ovia scholarship
programme is on till 30th November, 2017. The scholarship is open
for all Nigeria graduates, undergraduates and newly admitted students of Nigeria
Universities.
The Jim Ovia Foundation has funded 1,500 scholarships totalling N100m ($200,000) since 2010, and supports IT skills programmes for marginalised young people, working with partners such as IBM and Google. The Jim Ovia Scholars programme, founded in 1998, provides aid to outstanding students during undergraduate and graduate study. The Jim Ovia ICT Entrepreneurs programme provides funding to the most promising five to 10 ideas a year, through a competitive bid process.

WAEC fixed January/February 2018 for Private Candidates Examination
The West African Examinations Council has created a new diet of its examination to cater for a large number of external candidates registering for the examination.
The council’s Head, National Office, Mr Olu Adenipekun, disclosed this at the unveiling of the first series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination diet for private candidates on Wednesday in Lagos.
According to him, the council has noted that a large number of external candidates are registering for the WASSCE meant for school candidates. He said that this led to an astronomical increase in cheats being caught during the conduct of the examination.
IGBOEKULIE Partners WAEC to Reward Best Igbo Candidates
An Igbo socio-cultural group, Igboekulie yesterday said that it is partnering with the West African Examination Council (WAEC), in the selection of winning candidates and schools that will be rewarded as the best Nigerian students in Igbo language, in an event slated to hold in Enugu on Saturday, November 25, 2017.
It said in a statement that the award ceremony which it plans to be an annual event is tagged ‘Asusu Igbo Amaka’ (Igbo language is very good), saying it will be rotated among the five South East states and two South South states of Rivers and Delta annually, even as the best host state will also be honoured during the award events.
The statement signed by the Chairman Planning Committee, Prof. Chibueze Jiburum and Secretary Planning Committee, Mr. Mecha Udo; said that the candidates, who will be rewarded in this first edition, will be determined by their performance in the last WAEC conducted examinations in Igbo language held in June this year. It added that the prizes shall be awarded at the ‘Asusu Igbo Amaka’ ceremony that will hold at the Main Hall of the College of Immaculate Conception (CIC), on Amaigbo lane in Enugu, Enugu State.
“At this event, the respective winning schools and Igbo language teachers will also be recognized and rewarded,” the statement said.
