SUPER Eagles of Nigeria Finished Unbeaten in Their World Cup Qualifier

The Super Eagles of Nigeria qualifier for World Cup and finished unbeaten as the group Leader Friday Night as they played out a 1-1 draw against Algeria.

The Nigeria Super Eagles finished with 14 points from six games; recording four wins and drawing two.
Moreover, the game with Algeria team on Friday night did not see goal in the first 45 minutes of the match with missed opportunities by the Algeria national team.

John Ogu strike in the 62nd minute to gave Nigeria the lead  before Algeria pulled level in the 88th minute from the spot kick by Yacine Brahimi.

The Nigeria Super Eagles enjoyed more of the ball possession (54%) of the night with 6 shots on target and 5 shots off target...


In the 15th minute, debutant Anthony Nwakaeme tried a shot from distance, but it was too weak to trouble the goalkeeper and moments later, the Israel-based striker failed to connect home a cross from inside the box.

Nwakaeme could have given Nigeria the lead in the 43rd minute with a quick turned inside the box before firing at goal, but goalkeeper Chaouch made a smart, first-time save.

Iwobi two minutes after the restart had a good chance but he was let down by his crossing.

Moments later, the Arsenal man forced a save from the Algeria goalie with a left-footed volley.

Nigeria finally took the lead in the 62nd minute, when an Ogu curler off a poor clearance beat Algeria goalkeeper Faouzi Chaouchi hands down.

However, Algeria equalised rather controversially in the 88th minute from the penalty spot through Yacine Brahimi after the referee adjudged that Shehu Abdullahi tried to foul the goal-bound Algeria skipper.
